Raytheon Missiles & Defense Secures $20 Million Deal with US Navy for Advanced Maritime Strike Tomahawk

Raytheon Missiles & Defense, a division of Raytheon Technologies, has secured a $20 million contract for low-rate production of the Maritime Strike Tomahawk® cruise missile Block Va. This contract includes navigation and communication enhancements, as well as a sophisticated multi-mode seeker designed for targeting moving objects at sea.

“This contract represents a pivotal and vital advancement in fulfilling the U.S. Navy’s requirement to engage moving targets on the water,” stated Kim Ernzen, Vice President of Naval Power at Raytheon Missiles & Defense. “The production of the Maritime Strike Tomahawk Block Va guarantees that our Sailors are equipped with the most cutting-edge long-range, first-strike munitions available to neutralize emerging threats.”

The Tomahawk cruise missile is an accurate weapon that launches from both naval vessels and submarines, capable of hitting targets with precision from 1,000 miles away, even in highly defended airspaces. U.S. and allied forces have successfully flight-tested the GPS-guided Tomahawk 550 times and have utilized it in combat over 2,300 instances. Its latest deployment occurred in 2018, during which U.S. Navy ships and submarines fired 66 Tomahawk missiles at Syrian chemical weapon installations.
