Raytheon Strikes Again: Romania Boosts Defense with Second Patriot Contract in Just a Year!
Raytheon, a leader in defense technologies and part of RTX, has secured a substantial $168 million contract to deliver critical equipment for Romania’s Patriot® air and missile defense system.
This strategic foreign military sales contract encompasses a comprehensive package that includes radar, command and control systems, launchers, and an array of support and testing equipment.
“The Patriot system continues to be the preferred choice for air and missile defense globally,” stated Pete Bata, the senior vice president of Global Patriot at Raytheon. “Our commitment is to provide proven, combat-ready capabilities aimed at bolstering European security and operational readiness.”
Uniquely positioned as the only combat-tested, ground-based air and missile defense solution, Patriot effectively counters long-range cruise missiles, tactical ballistic missiles, and various aerial threats.
Supported by a robust command-and-control framework, the Patriot system has successfully intercepted hundreds of advanced aerial threats in various conflict zones worldwide. Serving as the backbone for air defense in 19 nations, the Patriot system consistently showcases its effectiveness against sophisticated aerial threats and complex multi-attack scenarios.
Notably, this marks Romania’s second order for Patriot systems within just one year. In addition, countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain are also set to enhance their air defense capabilities with additional Patriot system orders in 2025.
