Hanwha Unveils Cutting-Edge Air and Missile Defense Solutions at BEDEX 2026

Hanwha to Showcase Advanced Defense Solutions at BEDEX 2026

Hanwha is set to make a significant impact at the upcoming BEDEX 2026 exhibition in Brussels, reinforcing its commitment to the European defense sector.

Attendees can expect to see Hanwha’s cutting-edge integrated air and missile defense capabilities, featuring the innovative hit-to-kill L-SAM system alongside advanced laser weapon systems.

In addition, Hanwha Aerospace will introduce the Chunmoo Multiple Rocket Launcher System (MRLS), which has recently garnered attention from NATO member states.

Scheduled for March 12 to 14, 2026, the BEDEX exhibition in Brussels, Belgium, provides Hanwha the opportunity to highlight its integrated air and missile defense (IAMD) solutions, building on the strategic partnerships formed through its K9 self-propelled howitzer exports.

A standout feature at Hanwha’s exhibition will be the L-SAM, a long-range surface-to-air missile system capable of neutralizing ballistic missiles during the upper tier of their terminal phase, targeting altitudes above 40 km. Utilizing hit-to-kill technology, this system offers exceptional precision by delivering kinetic energy directly to incoming threats, surpassing traditional blast-fragmentation methods.

The L-SAM successfully completed its development in 2024 and has been in mass production since last year. By addressing high-speed ballistic missile threats at elevated altitudes, the system ensures swift reactions to potential attacks. Its potential integration into NATO’s IAMD architecture positions the L-SAM as a vital asset for European nations enhancing their air defense frameworks.

During the exhibition, Hanwha Aerospace will showcase the L-SAM Anti-Ballistic Missile system and its launcher, while Hanwha Systems will demonstrate the L-SAM’s multi-function radar (MFR). This advanced radar system can simultaneously detect and track both ballistic missiles and aircraft, underscoring Hanwha’s robust layered air defense strategy, encompassing both short and long-range capabilities.

Furthermore, Hanwha Aerospace will also present the Chunmoo MRLS to the Western European audience. This highly mobile, wheeled platform is engineered to fire various guided munitions for diverse engagement scenarios. Its user base among NATO allies has expanded significantly, now including Estonia and Norway, alongside Poland. At BEDEX, the Chunmoo launcher will be displayed alongside four different guided missiles tailored for various ranges and mission objectives.

A Hanwha spokesperson stated, “Through our participation in BEDEX 2026, we aim to showcase the comprehensive capabilities of Hanwha in air defense and ground firepower, while exploring meaningful partnerships that enhance the defense readiness of NATO member states.”
