EPI Expands Partnership with Airbus Atlantic for Enhanced Production of Vital Airframes

EPI, a division of EDGE Group and the foundation of precision engineering in the UAE’s aerospace, oil & gas, and defense sectors, has augmented its agreement with Airbus Atlantic, a global leader in aerostructures, a vital component of Airbus. The renewed contract, which extends until 2031, encompasses the production of category 1 flight-essential airframes for the A320 and A330 programs.

This partnership involves the deployment of EPI’s cutting-edge technology, employing Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining with a maximum length of 7 meters, as well as specialized processes and coating procedures within EPI’s fully automated, merit-certified facility. In-process and final evaluations will be conducted to guarantee manufacturing consistency, utilizing EPI’s advanced technological innovations, including the 7m Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), a high-precision measuring apparatus. The work package entails flight-critical airframe elements, such as fuselage frames and floor beams, for single-aisle (A320 and A321) and long-range (A330 and A340) aircraft.

Regarding the contract signing, Michael Deshaies, Chief Executive Officer of EPI, stated: “This contract renewal emphasizes our demonstrated expertise and highlights the confidence our partners have in us to meet their strategic objectives. It also aligns with the mutual ambitions of EPI and Airbus Atlantic, enhances the UAE aviation sector, fosters value exchange, and strengthens local manufacturing capabilities through the “Make It in the Emirates” initiative. Over the forthcoming seven years, EPI will assume a crucial role in Airbus’ scaling efforts, particularly for the Single Aisle Programme. We are committed to providing comprehensive assistance to fulfill Airbus Atlantic’s rigorous standards and targets, including aspects such as competencies, technology, systems, certifications, and accreditations.”

The agreement was finalized on 4 December during a ceremony at the Airbus D2P conference in Toulouse, France. The D2P designation signifies preferred supplier status within Airbus’ value chain.
