EDGE Teams Up with Hungary’s 4iG SDT to Tailor Defence Innovations for Europe and Africa
EDGE, one of the globe’s premier advanced technology and defence enterprises, alongside 4iG Space and Defence Technologies (SDT), a leading telecommunications, IT, and space and defence industry group in Hungary and the Western Balkans, has formalized three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) to create substantial and extensive industrial collaboration between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Hungary.
During an official state visit from the UAE to Hungary, EDGE and 4iG SDT finalized three MoUs aimed at facilitating a broad technological partnership to collaboratively innovate, localize, and market state-of-the-art defence systems. This includes EDGE’s SKYKNIGHT air defence missile system, SHADOW 25 and SHADOW 50 loitering munitions, alongside VEGA and ORION unmanned aerial traffic management solutions.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE, stated: “Our mission with partners like 4iG SDT is to assist nations in cultivating and acquiring advanced sovereign defence technology and industrial proficiencies. The current global security landscape has demanded modernization initiatives to leverage the latest autonomous technologies and confront swiftly emerging aerial threats. This alliance enhances EDGE’s capability to provide competitive, NATO-compatible, and export-ready solutions, not only in support of Hungary’s national objectives but also as a gateway to deeper collaboration across Europe and NATO member states.”
István Sárhegyi, CEO of 4iG SDT, commented: “The agreements executed today symbolize a pivotal moment in 4iG SDT’s international defence industry endeavors. Through this collaboration with one of the globe’s rapidly growing defence technology firms, we can craft systems with significant potential for success in both European and African markets mutually. EDGE’s confidence and transparency afford Hungary the chance to emerge as a strategic participant in the global defence innovation landscape.”
Under the first accord, the two organizations will establish an expansive technological partnership to co-create and explore market avenues for next-generation unmanned aerial systems (UASs), counter-UAS (C-UAS) solutions, and space technologies in Central and Eastern Europe as well as Africa. The agreement further encompasses the possible establishment of a joint venture.

The second agreement is centered on the prospective development and manufacturing of EDGE’s swiftly deployable SKYKNIGHT inner-layer air defence missile system and SHADOW line of precision-strike loitering munitions in Hungary.
The final accord aims at introducing EDGE’s VEGA uncrewed traffic management and ORION drone fleet management systems to the European market, with a potential for joint development of air traffic control solutions. The MoU also includes evaluating a joint venture to serve as a European development and sales hub for VEGA and ORION.
Following a previous MoU between EDGE and 4iG SDT earlier this year for the co-development of UAS and space technologies, the three subsequent agreements reinforce EDGE’s renewed dedication to fortifying ties with pivotal European defence ecosystems and delivering collaboratively developed, export-ready solutions that align with the technological and security needs of NATO nations.
