Lockheed Martin Wins $122.5M Pentagon Contract to Amplify Missile Production Power
The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded Lockheed Martin a contract valued at $122.5 million to support the upgrading of its production facilities in Orlando, Florida. This monetary investment aims to increase the manufacturing capability for the AGM-158B JASSM-ER long-range cruise missile and the AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship missile.
Commenced in March, the contract is expected to be completed by mid-July 2028. Lockheed Martin will utilize the funds to acquire essential tools and testing apparatus, thereby ensuring a more efficient production process to satisfy the rising domestic and global requirements.
The decision to enhance output stems from the escalating demands of the U.S. military and a growing collection of international buyers. To swiftly address potential export demands, Lockheed Martin must bolster its production prowess.
An essential advantage of these missiles is their compatibility with the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet. With 19 countries currently employing or planning to integrate the F-35, this synergy significantly broadens the market for the AGM-158 missile series.
The AGM-158 JASSM has already been procured by Australia, Finland, and Poland, with numerous other countries placing orders through the U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) program, highlighting its increasing global traction.

In a similar fashion, the AGM-158C LRASM anti-ship missile has begun to gain traction in the export market, with Australia recognized as the first confirmed purchaser. Other countries, including Poland, have also shown interest in acquiring this advanced missile system.
