Thales Unveils Sixth Cyber Defense Hub in Morocco, Strengthening Security Across Africa

Thales Cyber Security Operations Center

Thales is inaugurating a new Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC) in Morocco, marking the sixth establishment in its global network. This facility will deliver immediate defense against cyber threats within the nation and throughout the African region.

The digital evolution of African communities, evident through the widespread adoption of mobile payment solutions across the continent and the surge in remote work owing to the health crisis, has significantly influenced Africa’s exposure to cyber threats. As enterprises, public sectors, and individuals become progressively interconnected, this shift necessitates an enhancement in protection levels to combat the growing frequency and complexity of attacks. Beyond the finance sector, every industry is impacted, notably crucial ones such as government services, as well as water supply, energy, and telecommunications.

In addition, a new regulatory environment is pushing African enterprises to adopt measures for oversight in the domain of cybersecurity. Thales, already established in Morocco, is thus amplifying its cyber proficiency across the continent.

The SOCs integrate 24/7 threat detection and evaluation capabilities, delivering responses in alignment with national cybersecurity frameworks and protocols. There are six SOCs situated in Canada, France, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and now Morocco. They collectively form an international network operating on the “follow the sun” model, providing uninterrupted assistance to over a hundred clients worldwide, characterized by unmatched responsiveness and adaptability.

“Thales is honored to enhance its expertise and knowledge in the cybersecurity domain in Morocco. The establishment of this SOC reflects the Group’s ambitions to bolster the development of security infrastructure in Africa, while closely aligning with the needs of our clients. Beyond our analytical capabilities, we provide businesses with access to a hybrid consulting and monitoring solution for their operations, thus affirming our dedication to cultivating skills and autonomy over the long term,” Hicham Alj, Managing Director of Thales Morocco.

Thales brings to its clients over 20 years of experience in the cybersecurity domain, particularly in SOC solutions, complemented by a comprehensive portfolio of offerings: cyber auditing and advisory, integration of cybersecurity solutions developed by Thales alongside offerings from prominent vendors, and simulations of Penetration Testing and Red Teaming tactics.

Across Africa, the Group assists its clients in ensuring adherence to regulations and technical frameworks, evaluating cyber risks and maturity levels, investigating and anticipating cyber crises, and neutralizing sophisticated attacks.
