UAE Cybersecurity Council Unveils Strategic Partnerships at Intersec 2022
The UAE National Cyber Security Council and Injazat, the UAE’s innovative technology leader in digital transformation, cloud computing, and cyber defense, have disclosed the signing of a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at enhancing coordination and response time to potential cyber threats in the UAE.
The MoU (photo) was executed by Ussama Dahabiyeh, Chief Executive Officer at Injazat and Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the Government of the UAE, during Intersec 2022, the largest security exhibition in the Middle East, currently taking place in Dubai.
This agreement will empower all governmental and semi-governmental organizations to be fortified by Injazat’s Cyber Fusion Centre’s ‘Detection and Response’ services, as reported by UAE news agency WAM.
Emphasizing the UAE’s proactive stance towards tackling challenges stemming from rapid digital technological advancements, the MoU enables Injazat to deliver standardized ‘Detection and Response’ services to all governmental entities at competitive rates and also train and empower UAE citizens in cyber security. Moreover, it enables Injazat to collaboratively innovate and design future-oriented cyber defense products to proactively mitigate cyber threats and safeguard the UAE’s digital infrastructure, thereby enhancing local and regional cyber security capabilities and showcasing best practices.
This collaboration will ensure business continuity and digital resilience while bolstering the crucial national sectors in achieving comprehensive digital transformation.
The “Detection and Response” services will also encompass cyber threat intelligence, threat defense operations, and digital forensics, providing an integrated perspective of the continuously evolving threat landscape with contextually relevant and actionable data at the council level to facilitate informed decision-making and responses.
Injazat introduced the region’s first Cyber Fusion Centre (CFC) in June 2020 to advance protection against data breaches and cyber intrusions. The CFC distinguishes itself from competitors through its radically innovative approach to cyber defense by proactively managing sophisticated threats, in contrast to traditional Security Operations Centers, which focus more on identifying and responding to incidents. Cyber Fusion Centres assist organizations in streamlining their systems and transforming information into actionable strategies and tactics, while also enhancing productivity and minimizing costs.
Simultaneously, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) also formalized a MoU with the UAE Cyber Security Council at Intersec 2022 to bolster cyber skills training in educational institutions and prepare Emirati youth for careers in the technology sector.
HPE and the Cyber Security Council plan to roll out various initiatives nationwide, expecting to engage with more than 500 students annually.
This MoU was endorsed by Mohammed Hamad Al-Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the Government of the UAE, and Ahmad Alkhallafi, Managing Director, UAE, Hewlett Packard Enterprise.
As an extension of HPE’s Emiratization program initiated in 2019, this partnership with the Cyber Security Council will support the Government’s vision to enhance the skills of young Emiratis. The HPE Youth Acceleration Initiative will feature workshops for schoolchildren, orientation days at HPE facilities, career counseling, university lectures, and an internship program, along with an early careers program for graduates.
This collaboration with the Cyber Security Council includes three distinct components that assist schoolchildren, university students, and graduates. HPE will partner with local primary and secondary schools to deliver workshops on-site and at HPE locations, including the HPE Digital Life Garage in Dubai – the company’s regional innovation hub. These workshops will offer insights into the IT field, showcase a day in the life of a technologist, and provide school pupils with university and career guidance.
Additionally, HPE is expanding its internship program for university students, providing 6-month work placements to allow students to experience the corporate landscape, IT industry, and diverse roles within the company. For graduates, HPE’s early careers program unlocks their potential and equips them with foundational skills essential for a successful career in the IT industry. This two-year initiative encompasses exposure to the entire spectrum of HPE’s operations, including technology solutions, sales, marketing, and support functions.
