“EDGE Unveils Cutting-Edge Autonomous Aerial Innovations to Brazilian Defense and Security Leaders”

EDGE, one of the globe’s foremost advanced technology and defense organizations, conducted a capability exhibition in April for the ANAVIA HT-100 unmanned helicopter in the designated test region of the Army Activities Centre in Restinga da Marambaia, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The showcase highlighted the HT-100’s aerial capabilities in swiftly and dependably providing actionable tactical intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) information in real-time.

Engineered and manufactured by EDGE subsidiary ANAVIA, a Switzerland-based firm specializing in cutting-edge unmanned aerial systems, the HT-100 embodies European engineering excellence and innovation in VTOL technology. ANAVIA’s proficiency played a crucial role in delivering the performance and dependability witnessed during the live showcase.

Throughout the event, representatives from the Brazilian Armed Forces; the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro State; the National Secretariat of Public Safety; the Public Security Secretariat of Rio de Janeiro; the Federal Police; the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro; the Special Border Group of Mato Grosso; Petrobras; and specialized security firms observed the HT-100 attain a 15-minute readiness period—from system activation to launch—and execute a multifaceted flight profile. This included hovering, low-speed and low-altitude navigation, figure-eight maneuvers, and circular flight paths. The exhibition also highlighted the HT-100’s visual line-of-sight (VLOS) and beyond visual line-of-sight (BVLOS) capabilities, along with enhanced situational awareness through real-time mapping.

Tiago Silva, CEO of EDGE’s Latin America (LATAM) division, stated: “For the defense and public safety demands in Latin America, the HT-100 provides a vital solution across various operational scenarios tailored to the region’s distinct challenges. This demonstration united several potential collaborators, who could greatly benefit from deploying the HT-100 in support of strategic missions.”

The HT-100 is an all-terrain, day/night, adverse-weather-capable unmanned helicopter formulated as a rapidly deployable substitute to manned rotorcraft for intelligence and data-acquisition missions. With a maximum payload of 60 kg, it is manufactured by ANAVIA and signifies the company’s dedication to transforming tactical ISR operations through endurance, precision, and state-of-the-art autonomy. The HT-100 features an interconnected rotor system and an industrial-grade turbine, offering up to 6 hours of flight duration with high energy efficiency, and reliable output with minimal vibration.

Jon Andri Jörg, CEO of ANAVIA, remarked: “With the HT-100, we are establishing a new benchmark in unmanned rotary aviation. Our objective at ANAVIA is to provide armed forces and security agencies with a trustworthy and highly capable platform that operates with precision, even in the most challenging conditions. This successful demonstration in Brazil reaffirms our mission of bringing European innovation to the global defense market by utilizing the extensive reach and capabilities of EDGE Group.”
