
BARKAN Takes the Stage at Winter Exercise-2025!
The “Winter Exercise-2025”, orchestrated by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), proceeds in Kars amidst severe cold conditions with participation from 20 diverse nations.
Executed under the leadership of the 3rd Army Command and overseen by the 9th Corps Command, the drill is spearheaded by the 14th Mechanized Infantry Brigade Command at the Şehit İstihkam Astsubay Kıdemli Üstçavuş İlhan Hamlı Shooting and Exercise Area. This exercise, initiated on January 20, unites 12,199 personnel, comprising 12,000 from Turkey and 199 from 20 allied countries, including the United States, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Italy, Kosovo, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, North Macedonia, Bulgaria, France, the United Kingdom, Libya, Mongolia, Niger, Tajikistan, and Jordan.
The drill emphasizes mortar operations, search and rescue activities, collaboration in joint missions, evaluating combat proficiency, synchronization of fire and movement, in addition to logistical and support tasks.
Moreover, families of martyrs, veterans, and students were welcomed at the exercise site, where they were familiarized with Turkey’s indigenous and national defense technologies.
HAVELSAN’s Technological Excellence at Winter Exercise-2025!
As a frontrunner in Turkey’s defense sector, HAVELSAN exhibited its technological expertise during Winter Exercise-2025 with the introduction of the BARKAN Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV). BARKAN, which was integrated into the Turkish Armed Forces’ arsenal in 2023, has been actively utilized in various operational functions, greatly boosting the tactical capabilities of military divisions.
Throughout the drill, BARKAN demonstrated its sophisticated autonomous functions and versatile design, effectively performing missions in reconnaissance-surveillance, logistics support, armed conflict, and electronic warfare. Thanks to its remarkable mobility in harsh winter environments, precise targeting against threats, and seamless interoperability with other unmanned systems, BARKAN emerged as one of the standout features of the exercise.
The system also garnered substantial interest from families of martyrs and veterans who participated in the event, reinforcing Turkey’s dedication to enhancing its defense industry through indigenous and innovative technologies.
