“BlackSky Announces Exclusive Gen-3 Preview Partnership with Current Gen-2 Client to Empower Ukraine”

BlackSky Technology Inc. has entered into a Gen-3 early access arrangement with a current international Gen-2 client to bolster support for Ukraine. This renewal agreement introduces extremely high-resolution Gen-3 imagery to the client’s existing Gen-2 low-latency, high-frequency monitoring services.

“This significant contract highlights the robust, all-encompassing tip-and-cue capability between our Gen-3 and Gen-2 systems,” remarked Brian O’Toole, CEO of BlackSky. “The two generations of satellites function collaboratively as analysts effortlessly merge dependable high-frequency, time-diverse Gen-2 data with the superior very high-resolution features of Gen-3.”

Through BlackSky’s Spectra tasking and analytics platform, clients can seamlessly incorporate Gen-3 and Gen-2 data into their current workflows. This allows for continuous monitoring across multiple locations, utilizing Gen-2 analytics alongside the ability to gather low-latency Gen-3 imagery in response to emerging situations.

“Heightened international interest in Gen-3 underscores our clients’ increasing confidence and reliance on BlackSky’s commercial solutions as a vital component of their everyday military and intelligence activities,” O’Toole continued. “As we incorporate additional Gen-3 satellites into our fleet, our early access clients will gain unmatched dependability and quality of imagery at industry-leading speeds, catering to the full spectrum of strategic to tactical ISR operations.”

The operational and technical success of the Gen-2 system has been instrumental in shaping the design of Gen-3. The new satellites deliver rapid-revisit, time-diverse 35-centimeter imagery, facilitating automated detection and classification of various military-relevant targets such as vehicles, aircraft, and vessels.

BlackSky currently has two Gen-3 satellites in orbit and is on course to establish a six-satellite Gen-3 constellation by year-end. The company delivers real-time, space-based intelligence solutions through its proprietary low Earth orbit satellite constellation and the BlackSky Spectra software platform.

BlackSky aids strategic decision-making by allowing clients to monitor, interpret, and foresee global occurrences in real-time. Its services are trusted by U.S. and international government entities, commercial businesses, and worldwide organizations.
