Uniting Strengths: KONGSBERG and Patria Forge a Partnership for AIM Norway’s Future
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA), a division of KONGSBERG, has formed a contract with the Norwegian Ministry of Defence for the procurement of Aerospace Industrial Maintenance Norway AS (AIM Norway), which serves the Norwegian armed forces’ operations for the upkeep, refurbishment, and enhancement of the Air Force’s aircraft and helicopters. To augment AIM Norway’s capabilities, expertise, and operational effectiveness, KDA and Patria have agreed on a joint ownership, with KDA controlling 50.1% and Patria possessing 49.9%.
Patria will contribute invaluable expertise and insights in aerospace maintenance, and both companies will work together to establish a solid foundation for progressive development. This acquisition marks a natural progression of Patria’s initiatives for the Norwegian defense forces, particularly in the helicopter domain, facilitating support for their NH90 and Bell 412 fleets.
AIM Norway has played a critical role in the Norwegian aviation industry since 1916, employing 440 professionals and generating a revenue of 113 million euros (as of 2017). AIM Norway also includes Belgium Engine Center (BEC), which predominantly operates from Herstal, near Liege in Belgium. BEC acts as a comprehensive provider for engine maintenance, repairs, and overhaul services.
