EDGE Group from the United Arab Emirates and Safran Electronics & Defence—a leading international high-tech organization in the aviation, defense, and space sectors—have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to explore the development, production, and commercialization of cutting-edge air-to-ground weapon systems.
The initial phase of this partnership sets the stage for enhancing Safran’s existing solutions, broadening their capabilities, and venturing into surface-to-air missile technology, ultimately paving the way for the next generation of smart weapons.
By synergizing Safran’s exceptional expertise in propulsion and navigation systems with EDGE’s robust industrial capabilities and technological advancements, this alliance seeks to provide competitive, export-ready solutions to meet global demands, thereby boosting operational efficiency for international clients.
The signing ceremony was held at EDGE Group’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi, officiated by Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, alongside Alexandre Ziegler, Head of Defence Global Business Unit at Safran Electronics & Defence.
According to Hamad Al Marar, “This partnership unites two organizations with complementary strengths. Safran’s extensive expertise in aerospace and defense, paired with EDGE’s production capabilities, forms a unique platform to deliver innovative and high-value solutions for global defense markets. We recognize significant potential to address the evolving requirements of diverse international markets.”
Alexandre Ziegler remarked, “For over 30 years, Safran has fostered strong relationships in the UAE based on trust, enduring cooperation, and operational excellence. Today’s agreement with EDGE signifies the strength and maturity of our partnership. By capitalizing on our complementary strengths, especially in smart air-to-ground weapon systems, we aspire to jointly develop innovative, localized solutions tailored to the dynamic needs of allied armed forces, while promoting localization and innovation.”
