Strategic Alliance: EDGE Launches Pivotal Border Security Project Strengthening UAE-Angola Defense Ties
EDGE Group has declared that it is in the concluding phases of finalizing an arrangement with the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Angola to initiate a comprehensive border security initiative, to be executed by its subsidiary BEACON RED.
The Letter of Intent (LOI) was endorsed by Omar Al Zaabi, President of EDGE Commercial, during the recent diplomatic visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to Angola, representing a crucial milestone in bilateral cooperation.
Hamad Al Marar, Managing Director and CEO of EDGE Group, stated: “This pivotal initiative reinforces EDGE’s fundamental strategy of providing innovative, UAE-developed defense and security solutions to global partners. Angola distinguishes itself as a progressive nation with a well-defined vision for upgrading its national security framework, positioning it as an ideal collaborator in transforming the future of border management. As one of the most significant UAE-led endeavors of its nature, it showcases our robust defense industrial foundation and our commitment to assisting governments in establishing long-term, future-proof national security capabilities.”
The initiative will facilitate enduring capability enhancement through the provision of state-of-the-art command and control (C2) systems and tailored training missions to boost situational awareness, operational preparedness, and swift response at vital border zones. This project will emerge as one of the most notable UAE-led security initiatives on a global scale, exemplifying EDGE’s established competence in delivering solutions that tackle intricate national security challenges.
EDGE’s border security framework seamlessly merges AI-driven analytics, surveillance drones, secure communication networks, and extensive data management with traditional defense mechanisms and multi-layered physical security. Each solution is customized to meet the unique operational requirements, geographical intricacies, and threat landscapes of the client, providing modular, interoperable systems that guarantee superior situational awareness and rapid responsiveness across varied terrains.
This agreement follows the EUR 1 billion contract, under which Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), a segment of EDGE Group, has been engaged to construct BR71 MKII corvettes for the Angolan Navy.
