Embraer Unveils the KC-390 Millennium: A Bold New Look Takes Flight!
Embraer, a prominent player in the aerospace sector globally, unveiled the refreshed visual identity of the KC-390 Millennium demonstrator aircraft. This event took place in Confins, Minas Gerais, at the facilities of GOL Aerotech, where the aircraft showcased its new livery.
This unveiling commemorates the highly favorable momentum of the KC-390 Program through a new and eye-catching visual identity, which embodies the attributes that have enabled the Millennium to establish itself as a leading figure in the medium category of military tactical transport.
“This updated visual identity marks a significant achievement in the narrative of the KC-390 Millennium, the versatile aircraft of the 21st century. Its unmatched combination of speed, maneuverability, resilience, dependability, technology, and efficiency—exclusive in this segment—not only enhances the defensive capabilities of its users but also fosters strategic interoperability among allied nations,” stated Bosco da Costa Júnior, President and CEO of Embraer Defense & Security.
Fueled by increasing global interest in the KC-390 Millennium, Embraer Defense & Security plans to amplify marketing efforts and demonstrations to prospective clients employing the new visual identity, with the inaugural international appearance slated to occur by year-end.
The painting of the demonstrator aircraft at GOL Aerotech’s facilities also paves the way for potential future painting of customer aircraft, alongside the expansion of Embraer’s production capabilities to satisfy the worldwide demand for the KC-390.
Since its induction into service with the Brazilian Air Force in 2019, the Portuguese Air Force in 2023, and the Hungarian Air Force in 2024, the KC-390 Millennium has showcased its capabilities, dependability, and performance. The current operational fleet has achieved a mission completion rate exceeding 99%, underscoring remarkable productivity in its class. Thus far, the aircraft of the 21st century has been selected by 11 Air Forces globally, including eight nations in Europe and seven NATO members.
The KC-390 Millennium is capable of transporting a greater payload (26 tons) than other medium-sized military transport aircraft and operates at increased speeds (470 knots) and longer ranges. It is suited for a variety of missions including cargo transport and deployment, troop transport, medical evacuation, search and rescue (SAR), firefighting, humanitarian efforts, and can operate from temporary or unpaved runways, such as compacted earth, soil, and gravel. The aircraft configured for air-to-air refueling, known as the KC-390, has successfully demonstrated its aerial refueling capabilities both as a provider and receiver, the latter being accomplished by taking fuel from another KC-390 utilizing pods situated beneath the wings.
