EOS Lands Contract for Advanced Laser Defense System to Combat Drone Threats
Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (“EOS”) (ASX: EOS) is excited to declare that it has obtained an order for a drone defense capability utilizing an innovative 100kW high-energy laser technology.
EOS has established itself as a worldwide frontrunner in counter-drone solutions employing conventional kinetic armaments to neutralize drones. The new high-energy laser enhances these fundamental skills and significantly broadens their scope.
The contract is valued at €71.4 million (approximately A$125 million) and was placed by a European NATO Member State. It encompasses the production and delivery of capabilities, alongside spare components, training, and documentation. This groundbreaking export order will be carried out by EOS in Singapore from 2025 to 2028.

The laser system has undergone rigorous testing in close cooperation with clients. The system is designed to be mobile, enabling deployment on trucks. To guarantee superior performance, it comes equipped with algorithms, threat detection, target acquisition, and beam-locking mechanisms. This system will be integrated into a multi-tiered air defense framework as part of the initiative.
EOS has developed this advanced high-energy laser technology to meet the crucial market demand for defense against drone swarm incursions at a cost-effective price.
Dr. Andreas Schwer, Chief Executive Officer at EOS, stated:
“In an environment of geopolitical unpredictability and persistent regional strains, the capacity to quickly and accurately identify, track, and neutralize drones is essential. This is the world’s inaugural export order for a 100-kilowatt class laser defense system. The contract follows extensive and continuous marketing, sales, and customer showcase efforts by the EOS team.
“Our cutting-edge laser weapon system can engage targets instantaneously. The laser strikes the target at the speed of light, unlike conventional bullets that may take a second or two to reach their destination. The system boasts high precision and an exceptionally low cost-per-shot – under 10 cents each.
“The elevated power of this system enables it to eliminate more drones at a quicker pace. It is designed to bring down 20 drones every minute.”

The EOS team will participate in the DSEI 2025 Defence Exhibition & Trade Show at ExCeL London, from 9-12 September. Our specialists will be present to elaborate on our innovative high-energy laser capabilities and the significance of multi-layered counter-drone solutions in addressing swiftly evolving battlefield challenges.
