EPI and Airbus Atlantic Join Forces to Revolutionize Airframe Production

EPI, a segment of EDGE Group and the cornerstone of precision engineering in the UAE’s aerospace, oil & gas, and defense industries, has enhanced its contract with Airbus Atlantic, a worldwide frontrunner in aerostructures, an essential segment of Airbus. The renewed agreement, which is valid until 2031, includes the manufacturing of category 1 flight-critical airframes for the A320 and A330 programs.

This collaboration incorporates EPI’s advanced technology, utilizing Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining with an extended length of 7 meters, alongside specialized processes and coating techniques within EPI’s fully automated, merit-certified facility. In-process and final inspections will be performed to ensure manufacturing consistency, leveraging EPI’s sophisticated technological advancements, including the 7m Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), a precision measuring tool. The scope of work encompasses flight-essential airframe components, such as fuselage structures and floor beams, for single-aisle (A320 and A321) and long-range (A330 and A340) aircraft.

EPI Contract Extension with Airbus Atlantic

On the occasion of the contract signing, Michael Deshaies, Chief Executive Officer of EPI, remarked: “This contract extension underscores our proven proficiency and illustrates the trust our partners place in us to achieve their strategic ambitions. It also coincides with the shared goals of EPI and Airbus Atlantic, strengthens the UAE aviation sector, promotes value creation, and bolsters local manufacturing capabilities through the “Make It in the Emirates” initiative. Over the next seven years, EPI will play a pivotal role in Airbus’ growth initiatives, particularly concerning the Single Aisle Programme. We are dedicated to delivering extensive support to meet Airbus Atlantic’s stringent standards and objectives, which include competencies, technology, systems, certifications, and accreditations.”

The agreement was formalized on 4 December during a ceremony at the Airbus D2P conference in Toulouse, France. The D2P designation indicates preferred supplier status within Airbus’ supply chain.
