On April 15, the Missile Defense Agency appointed Lockheed Martin [NYSE: LMT] to provide the nation’s advanced homeland missile defense capability, the Next Generation Interceptor (NGI).

As the MDA’s NGI principal contractor, Lockheed Martin will deliver the most cutting-edge, dependable, and technologically sophisticated interceptor in the history of the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) framework. This multiple-kill vehicle interceptor is crafted to safeguard the homeland against long-range ballistic missile dangers from hostile nations.

“Lockheed Martin is honored to collaborate with the MDA on an innovative interceptor designed to enhance our nation’s defense. We are devoted to supplying dependable interceptors that will integrate flawlessly with the GMD system and can quickly adapt to emerging threats,” remarked Sarah Hiza, vice president and general manager of Strategic and Missile Defense at Lockheed Martin. “We are prepared to assist our client for many years ahead with a solution capable of defending the nation from present and future dangers.”

Safeguarding What Is Most Essential

Lockheed Martin remains dedicated to offering the MDA an interceptor solution that is effective, mature, dependable, and cost-efficient. The program is progressing toward the Critical Design Review, integrating with the larger weapon system, and undergoing flight testing. Lockheed Martin’s NGI initiative incorporates digital tools, processes, and technologies as vital enablers to fulfill our clients’ production requirements both now and in the future.

Lockheed Martin is committed to providing the initial NGI ahead of the warfighter’s requirements.

Collaborating for the Future of Missile Defense

Lockheed Martin possesses extensive knowledge of the comprehensive missile defense mission and is dedicated to preserving a constructive and transparent relationship with the MDA. For NGI, the company is capitalizing on investments in kill vehicle technology, proven exo-atmospheric threat engagement experience, and nearly seven decades of supplying the nation with strategic missile systems. The company pioneered hit-to-kill interception technologies that our clients depend on today. New and advanced Lockheed Martin facilities, built for the homeland missile defense mission, recently opened in Huntsville, Alabama, and are under construction in Courtland, Alabama, demonstrating corporate commitment to NGI.
