“Exail Enhances Airbus SIRTAP Tactical UAS with Cutting-Edge Inertial Navigation Systems”

Exail, a worldwide frontrunner in inertial navigation solutions, has been chosen, along with its Spanish collaborator Grafinta, to provide the UmiX-40 Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for its incorporation into the navigation system of Airbus’s SIRTAP tactical unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), developed by GMV. This partnership will furnish Airbus with a crucial element to boost the SIRTAP UAV’s accuracy and dependability in demanding operational settings.

The UmiX-40 merges high-accuracy navigation and stabilization features in a remarkably compact, solid-state configuration, facilitating effortless integration into space-restricted platforms such as the SIRTAP UAV. Featuring Fiber-Optic Gyroscopes (FOG) and Vibrating Beam Accelerometers engineered in-house, it delivers dependable performance in GNSS-denied situations and under extreme operating circumstances, ensuring mission continuity and flight safety even in contested or degraded navigation conditions. Its robust architecture and plug-and-play integration make it ideally suited for the operational requirements of long-endurance ISR missions across diverse and challenging terrains.
