F-35 Soars to New Heights: Record Deliveries and Ongoing Triumphs in 2025

In a groundbreaking achievement, Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) delivered an impressive 191 F-35 Lightning II aircraft in 2025, setting a new record that surpasses the previous high of 142 jets.

The annual production rate of the F-35 is now five times quicker than that of any other allied fighter currently active, highlighting the program’s significant scale and maturity.

This milestone follows the accomplishment of one million flight hours earlier this year and the delivery of the most advanced software version, TR-3, which enhances the capabilities of the growing global fleet of almost 1,300 aircraft.

Notably, the F-35 has demonstrated exceptional performance in actual combat scenarios, including:

  • Assisting in neutralizing Iran’s air defenses during Operation Midnight Hammer;
  • Achieving nearly 5,000 accident-free flight hours during the U.S. Marine Corps F-35B deployment;
  • Targeting and eliminating Russian drones over Poland, marking a historic engagement by NATO F-35s in allied airspace.

Rising Global Demand

Confidence in the F-35 program remains robust as international customers expand their fleets. Italy and Denmark, for instance, have increased their orders by 25 and 16 aircraft, respectively. Key milestones were reached by several nations:

  • Finland celebrated the introduction of its first F-35.
  • Belgium received its first aircraft on home soil.
  • Norway completed its F-35 delivery process.

In September, a significant agreement was finalized by the F-35 Joint Program Office (JPO) and Lockheed Martin for Lots 18-19, covering the production and delivery of up to 296 F-35s valued at $24 billion. Additionally, an Air Vehicle Sustainment Contract was awarded to support ongoing maintenance activities across the F-35 enterprise into 2025 and beyond.

“I’m immensely proud of the F-35 enterprise for fulfilling our production commitments and enhancing global partnerships in 2025,” stated Chauncey McIntosh, Vice President and General Manager of the F-35 Lightning II Program. “As our warfighters continue to utilize the F-35 to safeguard the interests of America and our allies, we remain dedicated to delivering the latest technologies to effectively counter any emerging threats.”
