Fincantieri and BQ Solutions Forge Partnership to Elevate Naval Training Initiatives in Qatar
Fincantieri, a premier entity in the global shipbuilding industry, along with BQ Solutions (BQ), a Qatari firm committed to delivering strategic value to Qatar’s military and security services, has officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Doha. This arrangement is designed to cultivate Italian-led educational and training programs for the Qatar Emiri Naval Forces.
The ceremony of signing took place between Mauro Manzini, Vice President Sales of the Fincantieri Naval Vessels Division, and Abdulrahman Darwish Fakhro, Chief Executive Officer of BQ Solutions during the 14th Edition of MILIPOL Qatar, the Global Exhibition & Conference dedicated to Homeland Security and Safety.
The MoU establishes a cooperative framework wherein both entities will collaborate to boost Qatar’s naval capabilities through innovative training solutions. Building upon the agreement formed with the Qatar Armed Forces in 2016, which encompassed the fabrication of seven surface vessels and extensive support services, including crew training, in-service assistance, and integrated logistical support, the new partnership with BQ Solutions will prioritize enhancing the quality and scope of training programs available for Qatari personnel.
“This partnership illustrates Fincantieri’s commitment to amplifying our contributions through strategic alliances,” remarked Mauro Manzini, Vice President Sales of the Fincantieri Naval Vessels Division. The two organizations will investigate program improvements that utilize Fincantieri’s extensive experience in shipbuilding and defense, incorporating initiatives that provide industrial, operational, and language training to fortify Qatar’s naval forces with state-of-the-art operational, technical, and logistical abilities.
Reflecting on the importance of this collaboration, Abdulrahman Fakhro, CEO of BQ Solutions, expressed: “We are thrilled to formalize this partnership, which will solidify our relationship and bolster the defense competencies of the State of Qatar.”
As of now, Fincantieri has successfully delivered six of the seven contracted surface vessels, with the final unit expected to be delivered within this year. Numerous essential training elements, encompassing operational and integrated logistics support, have also been effectively completed.
