GÖKSUR Completes Landmark First Live Fire Trial with Flying Colors
ASELSAN, Türkiye’s premier defense corporation, has triumphantly accomplished the inaugural live-fire evaluation of GÖKSUR, the nation’s indigenous naval point defense missile system. This evaluation transpired on 16 February 2025 from the TCG BEYKOZ vessel offshore of Sinop in northern Türkiye.
The GÖKSUR Vertical Launch System (VLS) is an essential element of Türkiye’s multi-layered air defense strategy, recognized as the Steel Dome. It is engineered to safeguard maritime assets from an array of aerial challenges, such as anti-ship and cruise missiles, drones, fighter aircraft, and helicopters.
Created by ASELSAN in partnership with TÜBİTAK SAGE, GÖKSUR incorporates the high-efficiency GÖKSUR IIR missile featuring bi-directional data link communication. The system’s modular architecture facilitates effortless customization for a variety of naval platforms, including frigates and corvettes.

GÖKSUR attracted considerable attention at the EURONAVAL 2024 exposition in Paris, where its cutting-edge features were highlighted. The system encompasses various configurations, including the GÖKSUR 100-N VLS, the stand-alone turret version (GÖKSUR 100-N/StA), and a novel 20-missile arrangement outfitted with the GÖKSUR IIR missile.

Notable features of GÖKSUR comprise 360-degree threat engagement capability, next-gen infrared seeker-guided munitions, and superior efficacy against low-flying threats. It also accommodates multiple simultaneous engagements while integrating an AI-driven fire control system to enhance operational efficacy.
The modular design of the system supports compatibility with a plethora of naval platforms, either as a standalone unit or as an integral part of a vessel’s combat management apparatus. Its advanced data link technology permits real-time uplink and downlink navigation, fortifying Türkiye’s maritime defense capabilities.
