General Dynamics Mission Systems revealed today that it has been granted a fixed-price-incentive, firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed-fee, and cost-only agreement from the U.S. Navy in December, valued at up to $808.6 million, to manufacture MK 54 MOD 1 Lightweight Torpedo Kits along with associated testing apparatus, spare parts, provisioned item orders, engineering assistance, and hardware support for the MK 54 Lightweight Torpedo Initiative.

Tasks will be carried out in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, and are projected to be concluded by December 2032.

“Our Progeny Systems team has been supplying state-of-the-art torpedo electronics to the U.S. Navy and its allies for 18 years. This contract guarantees that our surface vessels and aircraft will possess the most advanced and capable torpedoes globally for many years ahead,” stated Laura Hooks, vice president and general manager of Maritime and Strategic Systems at General Dynamics Mission Systems.

Progeny Systems was integrated into General Dynamics Mission Systems in 2022. Based in Manassas, Virginia, Progeny Systems offers a broad range of capabilities and lifecycle support services for U.S. submarines and surface vessels.
