A new production facility will be established through Hanwha-WB Advanced System, enhancing the supply chain in Poland.

On December 29th, Hanwha Aerospace finalized a major contract worth approximately $4 billion (PLN 14 billion) with the Polish Armament Agency. This agreement is for the supply of the advanced Chunmoo CGR-080 guided missiles.

Signed at the Polish Army Museum in Warsaw, this deal marks the third significant agreement under the Homar-K framework. It involves a collaboration between the Polish Armament Agency and a consortium led by Hanwha-WB Advanced Systems, formed by Hanwha Aerospace and Poland’s WB Electronics.

The CGR-080 missile, featuring a caliber of 239mm, delivers precision strikes up to an impressive range of 80 km, with a Circular Error Probability (CEP) of just 15 meters. Utilizing a GPS/INS guidance system, these missiles will serve as the primary ammunition for Poland’s Homar-K system, which is a variant of the Chunmoo Multiple Rocket Launcher System.

The agreement was officially signed by Major General Artur Kuptel, Head of the Armament Agency, alongside Son Jae-il, President and CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, and Piotr Wojciechowski, President of the WB Group. Notable attendees included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and several high-level representatives from both Poland and South Korea.

According to the contract, the guided missiles will be produced at a specialized facility in Poland operated by Hanwha-WB Advanced System, with the first deliveries expected to begin in 2030.

This strategic initiative includes significant technology transfer and aims to enhance Poland’s defense capabilities by integrating local partners into the supply chain. The project is anticipated to create technical job opportunities and promote a sustainable defense ecosystem in the country.

Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz stated, “This agreement underscores our strong Polish-Korean friendship and fulfills our aspiration for production independence within the Homar-K program. By collaborating with WB Electronics and Hanwha Aerospace, we are building a resilient partnership with a trusted ally.”

Son Jae-il, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, remarked, “This contract marks a crucial milestone rooted in the trust established between Hanwha and Poland. We are committed to cooperating with the Polish defense industry to enhance security and generate economic benefits for Poland.”
