Finland Sets to Fortify Defense with Advanced Patria 6×6 Vehicles!
The Finnish Defence Forces are set to acquire robust Patria 6×6 armored vehicles from Patria as part of the Common Armoured Vehicle System (CAVS) initiative.
The Finnish Minister of Defence, Antti Häkkänen, has granted permission to the Logistics Command of the Finnish Defence Forces to commence a serial procurement of heavy armored personnel carriers 6×6 from Patria.
The initial phase of the acquisition will encompass one pre-series unit and 20 remote weapon systems from Kongsberg, which will be integrated into the vehicles.
The purchase will also provide an option for acquiring an additional 18 vehicles, alongside provisions for vehicle outfitting, maintenance, spare parts, and training.
“The heavy armored vehicle variations differ from Patria 6×6 standard vehicle models with an enhanced level of protection and firepower, facilitating superior coverage particularly in crisis management operations. The heavy armored Patria 6×6 vehicle, equipped with remote weapon systems, is the final outcome from the R&D collaboration among several nations,” states Jussi Järvinen, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Finland Division.
Besides Finland, the initiative also involves Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. This program commenced in 2020, resulting in approximately 700 Patria 6×6 vehicles being ordered as part of the collaborative mission. The joint initiative has sparked interest from other nations as well.
