HAVELSAN Revolutionizes Naval Operations with Homegrown Electronic Boards for Enhanced Ship Data Management

HAVELSAN has significantly bolstered its command and control functionalities by domesticating commercial off-the-shelf electronic components that were previously imported, such as Single Board Computers (SBCs), Time Cards, Various Interface and Power Cards, and Compact PCI Backplanes utilized in the locally developed Ship Data Distribution System (GVDS).

The 56th variant of the Ship Data Distribution System (GVDS) family, crafted with electronic components engineered by HAVELSAN experts, successfully completed the Factory Acceptance Test for MİLGEM-6, achieving a flawless 100% success rate and receiving an “A” grade.

With all electronic components now engineered internally by HAVELSAN experts, the Real-Time VxWorks operating system drivers have also been refined for optimal performance.

Consequently, HAVELSAN’s GVDS hardware and software solution—regarded as the core of naval vessels—now features entirely domestically produced electronic components.

This high-performance electronic hardware and software framework can likewise be applied in additional projects, including the Peace Eagle (Barış Kartalı) airborne early warning and control aircraft.

A Major Milestone in Nationalization

Reflecting on the successful domestic production of electronic components for the Ship Data Distribution Systems, HAVELSAN General Manager Dr. Mehmet Akif Nacar remarked:

Growth of HAVELSAN’s Platform Data Distribution Systems

HAVELSAN’s Platform Data Distribution Systems portfolio continues to grow. In addition to the Ship Data Distribution System and the Submarine Information Distribution System, the family will soon incorporate the Barış Kartalı (BK) Mission Computing Systems (MCS) as part of the Peace Eagle Project.
