HAVELSAN Enhances Armored Combat Preparedness with Cutting-Edge Tank Simulation Innovations
HAVELSAN, a prominent defense and technology firm in Türkiye, is advancing the instructional and operational capabilities of ground forces through its state-of-the-art tank simulation solutions. The organization’s all-inclusive training offerings designed for the ALTAY Main Battle Tank demonstrate an integrated and forward-thinking strategy for contemporary armored combat education, crafted in close collaboration with the Turkish Land Forces’ esteemed training institutions. This educational center combines traditional classroom settings with open and semi-open mock-up/simulator spaces and specialized VR labs to establish a cohesive learning environment.
HAVELSAN’s systems boast a hybrid framework that combines actual mechanical systems with virtual and augmented reality environments. This innovative structure enables tank crews and maintenance teams to engage in operational missions, fault scenarios, and maintenance tasks under highly realistic situations. As part of the educational hub’s curriculum, multi-camera streaming to large screens allows instructors to supervise drills in real time while several groups engage simultaneously. The training scope encompasses both individual and collective instruction, covering user operation, maintenance and diagnostics, emergency protocols, and multi-mission scenarios—customized for Fire Control, Communications, and Command-and-Control subsystems. The Virtual Maintenance and Fault Simulation System replicates the tank’s electrical and cabling framework in three dimensions, permitting trainees to execute actual maintenance tasks within a digital framework. Participants can conduct evaluations using virtual measurement tools, identify malfunctions, and simulate the entire troubleshooting process step-by-step, thus accelerating familiarity with otherwise invisible components and harnesses.
Another significant aspect of the initiative, the Live Turret Training Model, features a domestically designed motion system, marking one of Türkiye’s pioneering dynamic training platforms of this scale. By integrating authentic turret and hull components, the system offers a remarkable degree of operational realism that reflects the battlefield context, supporting sustained and repeatable training without wear on the platforms.
Leveraging its vast experience in simulation engineering, systems integration, and training technologies, HAVELSAN has utilized its knowledge to establish a sustainable, scalable, and user-centric training ecosystem for armored vehicles. Within this framework, HAVELSAN will provide 44 product types—totaling 94 training solutions—in 10 batches, with the initial delivery anticipated by the end of 2025 and shipments continuing over the following three years.
