Spain Secures Landmark Agreement for 45 Cutting-Edge TAI Hürjet Trainer-Combat Aircraft
The Spanish government has formally sanctioned a €3.12 billion agreement to acquire 45 advanced Hürjet jet trainers and light combat aircraft.
The Hürjet, a cutting-edge single-engine aircraft, is engineered and manufactured by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), which will oversee production at its facilities in Turkey.
This agreement highlights the significant involvement of the Spanish industry: Airbus España is tasked with integrating vital components such as the mission computer, communications systems, and other selected avionics.
Expected to deliver the first aircraft by 2028, this landmark deal marks a pivotal moment for Turkey’s aviation sector, representing the largest defense contract Turkey has achieved in the European market thus far.
