Italy and Greece Strengthen Naval Alliances: Fincantieri Media Transfer of Dual Military Assets

On the inaugural day of the Seafuture exhibition in La Spezia, the National Armaments Directors from Italy and Greece formalized a preliminary pact for the transfer to the Hellenic Navy, via Fincantieri, of two naval assets presently operational within the Italian Navy fleet. This agreement was executed in the presence of several dignitaries, including Italian Minister of Defence, Guido Crosetto, his Greek counterpart, Nikos Dendias, and the Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy, Admiral Enrico Credendino.

The agreement signifies a pivotal advancement in collaboration between Italy and Greece, while reaffirming the strategic importance of the maritime vessels constructed by Fincantieri, renowned globally as an exemplary model of national military shipbuilding. This partnership fosters cooperation, interoperability, and collective industrial endeavors in the maritime sector.

The conclusive agreement, pending standard approvals, will also comprise a support package that Fincantieri will be well-positioned to oversee, given its extensive know-how and established competency in after-sales services. Additionally, it is anticipated that these two vessels will be substituted with new orders in the upcoming period.

Pierroberto Folgiero, CEO and Managing Director of Fincantieri, stated: “Our advanced naval platforms represent a globally esteemed benchmark of excellence and a remarkable vehicle for geopolitical outreach. This initial agreement serves as further proof of the international significance of the Italian defense sector, both militarily and industrially, and underscores the strategic importance of our partnership with the Italian Navy. It also highlights Fincantieri’s crucial role in enhancing industrial cooperation among allied nations and in advancing the global stature of Italian Defense, further solidifying the Group’s position as a leader in European shipbuilding.”
