KNDS Secures New Contract for Innovative BOXER Ambulance and Driver Training Fleet
KNDS Deutschland (KNDS) has been tasked with producing 38 BOXER sgSanKfz (heavily armored ambulance vehicle) along with ten BOXER educational vehicles for the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr).
The agreement, which KNDS acquired as a subcontractor to ARTEC (original equipment manufacturer of the BOXER system and a collaborative endeavor between KNDS Deutschland and Rheinmetall Landsysteme), also encompasses an option for an extra 150 BOXER sgSanKfz and 100 BOXER educational vehicles. This contract for the 48 systems holds a value of €352 million. Vehicle deliveries are slated to commence in early 2028.
As the initial link in the medical rescue chain, the BOXER Ambulance forms the foundation for pre-hospital care. The versatile ambulance mission module can accommodate a considerable number of casualties, depending on the nature of injuries sustained. Comprehensive care is also available.
The BOXER Ambulance provides equivalent protection for the crew as the BOXER infantry variant, distinguishing it as one of the most secure medical vehicles in the industry.
The driver training vehicle acts as a training tool for attaining a BOXER driver’s license. It is utilized solely for training objectives in non-combat operations. The driving dynamics and overall weight of the training vehicle remain nearly unchanged compared to other BOXER variants, ensuring that trained drivers do not require an extra acclimatization period when transitioning to different versions.
