Finland Fortifies Its Defense with Cutting-Edge Patria 6×6 Armored Vehicles
The Finnish Defence Forces are obtaining additional Patria 6×6 vehicles from the supplementary procurement option specified in the previously established contract. In the summer of 2023, Patria and the Defence Forces Logistics Command solidified a deal for 91 armored personnel carriers integrated with essential technology.
The acquisition contract included a supplementary procurement option for 70 units, of which the Defence Forces have already secured 41 at the start of the 2023–2024 period and now an additional 29 vehicles. The scheduled delivery for these requested units is set for completion by the end of 2025.
“Securing the entire domestic supplementary purchase option is crucial for Patria and the broader international CAVS joint initiative. The initiative has progressed rapidly due to exceptional cooperation among Patria and the involved nations. This collaborative endeavor fosters efficient vehicle innovation and lifecycle support, fast-tracked procurements, and compatibility of equipment, thereby strengthening defense cooperation across Europe,” says Jussi Järvinen, the head of Patria’s operations in Finland.
This procurement is part of the global CAVS (Common Armoured Vehicle System) joint endeavor, which includes Finland, Latvia, Sweden, and Germany. The research and development agreement for this collaborative project was ratified at the close of 2020, with deliveries commencing to three nations within a span of three years.
