MBDA Acquires Complete Control of Roxel: A Strategic Transformation
MBDA has assimilated Roxel as a fully-owned subsidiary of its European defense consortium, having acquired the 50% stake held by Safran on 19 December 2024. This purchase capitalizes on Roxel’s current and forthcoming competencies at a pivotal moment of substantial expansion and investment.
Roxel will persist in managing its operations autonomously, upholding all its present agreements with other system suppliers while exploring new markets, especially for international sales. This acquisition will enhance the progress of Roxel, fortifying its status as a global leader in tactical propulsion and solidifying its role as a national champion within France and the UK.
MBDA CEO Éric Béranger praised the transaction: “I extend a warm welcome to everyone at Roxel into the MBDA Group. By strengthening collaboration and synergy between the teams of both organizations, this deal is aimed at bolstering Roxel’s operational and industrial excellence. It also seeks to deliver an even more effective response to the scaling challenges presented by the current context of wartime economy, both in terms of development and production.”
Roxel CEO Sylvie Grison stated: “This acquisition will empower us to advance innovation in next-generation solid propulsion technologies. Furthermore, this integration process will facilitate the optimization of industrial cycles for a quicker scaling. I am, therefore, very delighted that this share acquisition has reached completion.”
Roxel is a Franco-British enterprise established from the fusion of Celerg and Royal Ordnance Rocket Motors in 2003. As a frontrunner in Europe and a key global entity in its domain, Roxel designs, develops, manufactures, and supplies solid propulsion systems and related equipment for various tactical and cruise missiles, as well as rockets employed by air, naval, and land forces. Roxel operates four manufacturing sites (one in the UK, one in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region, and two in the Centre-Val de Loire region), along with offices in the Paris area.
