Recently, the MKE TOLGA Short-Range Air Defence System made headway by securing an export agreement with Saudi Arabia, following successful exports to Qatar and Egypt.
Memorandum of Understanding with Saudi Partners
MKE has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al Talbiah, a Saudi Arabian company, for the joint production of the MKE TOLGA Short-Range Air Defence System, as well as 122 mm Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) ammunition. This pivotal MoU was formalized at the World Defense Show 2026 (WDS 2026) by MKE General Manager İlhami Keleş and the CEO of Al Talbiah, marking a significant milestone in regional air defense and rocket system capabilities.
Growing Interest in MKE TOLGA!
Previously exported to Qatar and Egypt, the MKE TOLGA Short-Range Air Defence System has garnered substantial market interest. With rising demands, MKE continues to engage with friendly nations, further solidifying the system’s global reach through the recent MoU with Saudi Arabia.
Joint Production of 122 mm MLRS Ammunition
MKE is set to bring its rich experience in ammunition manufacturing to Saudi Arabia, focusing on establishing the technical and industrial processes for joint production of 122 mm Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) ammunition.
Collaborating on Explosives Production
During the World Defense Show (WDS) 2026, MKE also signed an agreement with Saudi Chemical Company Limited (SCCL) for the joint production and marketing of explosive raw materials essential for ammunition manufacturing, further enhancing collaboration in the defense sector.
Continuing Collaborations with Saudi Arabia
MKE is set to establish an ammunition production line in Saudi Arabia to meet demands for local ammunition production and weapon assembly. This initiative is backed by an agreement with Saudi Arabian Military Industries (SAMI), which outlines the provision of production equipment by MKE and ongoing technical support from Turkish engineers throughout the manufacturing process.
MKE has successfully established ammunition production facilities in nine countries across four continents, including Europe, America, Asia, and Africa. In 2025, the installation of new production lines in Mongolia and Jordan was completed.
Exciting Developments for BORAN 105 mm Howitzer
Discussions are underway between MKE and Saudi authorities regarding the export of the BORAN 105 mm Air-Transportable Light Towed Howitzer, recognized for its superior operational performance and lightweight design. The agreement plans to include the export of 42 BORAN Howitzers to Saudi Arabia.
The BORAN 105 mm Air-Transportable Light Towed Howitzer, developed by MKE, represents a significant achievement as Türkiye’s first howitzer export, with its initial delivery to Bangladesh in 2024. In 2025, MKE successfully entered the European market through a strategic agreement with North Macedonia.
