Anchors of Alliance: Naval Group and Egyptian Navy Boost Collaborative Fleet Support
The Egyptian Navy has reaffirmed its agreement with Naval Group for the in-service support (ISS) of the vessels provided to the Egyptian Navy. This collaboration aims to optimize fleet readiness for both entities.
Naval Group and the Egyptian Navy have officially extended the ISS contract that was initially established in 2019. This renewed agreement spans five years, during which proficient engineers and technicians will manage the upkeep of seven vessels: the multi-role frigate (FREMM) Tahya Misr, the two Egyptian Landing Helicopter Docks (E-LHD) Gamal Abdel Nasser and Anwar El Sadat, along with the four Gowind® corvettes El Fateh, Port Said, El Moez, and Al Ismailia.
The endorsement of this extension strengthens the alliance between Naval Group and the Egyptian Navy, a partnership that has thrived over the last decade, solidifying Naval Group’s ongoing presence in the region. Furthermore, Naval Group is dedicated to fostering employment opportunities for Egyptian personnel to bolster its workforce in Egypt. Continuous dialogues are underway to forge new collaborations with local suppliers, who will participate in ship maintenance alongside Naval Group and the Egyptian Navy.

Naval Group and the Egyptian Navy: A Decade of Collaboration
Naval Group has established a presence in Egypt for nearly a decade. The organization has equipped the Egyptian Navy with a multi-mission frigate (FREMM), two Mistral-class Egyptian Landing Helicopter Docks (E-LHD), and four Gowind® corvettes, three of which were built locally through a technology transfer initiative. The establishment of its subsidiary in Alexandria in 2018 further underscores the group’s long-term dedication to local operations.
Since 2019, Naval Group has been responsible for the in-service support of this fleet. As both the designer and manufacturer of the FREMM, E-LHDs, and Gowind® corvettes, Naval Group possesses the critical knowledge needed to keep these vessels in optimum readiness and superior operational condition, ensuring continual enhancements.
