“Triumph in Trade: MKE Tolga SHORAD Secures $350 Million Export Deal with Egypt”
“Turkish defense leader Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi (MKE) has launched the TOLGA Short-Range Air Defence System (SHORAD), designed specifically to address aerial threats such as drones. Last month, its international effectiveness was highlighted with a successful export to Qatar.”
In addition, MKE secured a significant export deal with the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, amounting to USD 130 million for the TOLGA SHORAD. These successful contracts underline the system’s competitive edge, dependable field performance, and sustainable export potential in the global defense market.
KEY FEATURES OF THE MKE TOLGA SHORAD
MKE TOLGA SHORAD is engineered to tackle the growing aerial threats of contemporary warfare, including UAVs, tactical drones, and smart munitions. Adopting the “Effective – Simple – Affordable” principle, this system offers a comprehensive solution featuring a command and control system, radar, electro-optical sensors, electronic jammers, and flexible weapon systems.
The MKE TOLGA effectively neutralizes aerial threats using two methods: Soft-Kill (electronic) and Hard-Kill (physical engagement). Soft-Kill operations can jam hostile drones up to 10 kilometers away. For Hard-Kill operations, MKE provides versatile weapon systems—12.7 mm, 20 mm, and 35 mm—alongside specially designed anti-drone ammunition featuring optimized detonation times and distances to create a fragmentation cloud around targets for effective neutralization.
The 35 mm ammunition can engage effectively up to 3,000 meters, while the 20 mm and 12.7 mm options have ranges of 1,000 meters and 300 meters, respectively. “Operating in manual, semi-autonomous, and fully autonomous modes, the MKE TOLGA is adaptable for integration into fixed installations and various mobile, armored, or unarmored platforms, including naval applications due to its modular design.
ESTABLISHMENT OF A 155 MM LONG-RANGE ARTILLERY AMMUNITION PRODUCTION FACILITY IN EGYPT
Under the recent contract with the Egyptian Ministry of Defence, MKE plans to establish a state-of-the-art 155 mm Long-Range Artillery Ammunition Production Facility in Egypt.
EXPANSION OF MKE’S CARTRIDGE PRODUCTION NETWORK
Additionally, MKE signed an agreement to create 7.62 mm and 12.7 mm cartridge production facilities in Egypt, broadening its operational footprint across nine countries, with Egypt integrated into its extensive network spanning Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa.
MKE TO LAUNCH A NEW COMPANY IN EGYPT
To enhance production capabilities and boost export potentials in Egypt and the surrounding region, MKE has joined forces with Egyptian authorities to form a new joint company.
