
Soaring into the Future: Raytheon’s Game-Changing PhantomStrike Radar Revolutionizes Fire Control
Raytheon, a segment of RTX (NYSE: RTX), has successfully carried out the initial flight evaluation of its PhantomStrike radar on the Multi-Program Testbed aircraft located in Ontario, California. PhantomStrike efficiently tracked numerous airborne targets and precisely mapped the landscape.
PhantomStrike is a groundbreaking fully air-cooled fire-control radar designed for long-range threat identification, monitoring, and targeting. At nearly half the expense of a conventional fire control radar, it offers exceptional radar performance due to its rapid, more dynamic digital beam, advanced target recognition, and resistance to signal interference.

PhantomStrike utilizes gallium nitride (GaN) technology, enabling aircrews to see further distances. It is designed for various platforms, including uncrewed vehicles, light-attack aircraft, fighter jets, helicopters, and ground-based installations. It captures the fire control capabilities of a fighter aircraft in its most compact form – weighing nearly half that of a modern active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar.
The production of these radars occurs in Forest, Mississippi; Tucson, Arizona; and Scotland, with assistance from Raytheon UK.
