GÖKSUR Achieves Remarkable Success in Inaugural Live Fire Test
ASELSAN, Türkiye’s leading defense firm, has successfully executed the first live-fire assessment of GÖKSUR, the country’s homegrown naval point defense missile system. This assessment took place on 16 February 2025, aboard the TCG BEYKOZ vessel, stationed off the coast of Sinop in northern Türkiye.
The GÖKSUR Vertical Launch System (VLS) is a pivotal component of Türkiye’s layered air defense blueprint, acclaimed as the Steel Dome. It is designed to protect maritime assets against an array of aerial threats, including anti-ship and cruise missiles, drones, fighter jets, and helicopters.
Developed by ASELSAN in collaboration with TÜBİTAK SAGE, GÖKSUR integrates the high-performance GÖKSUR IIR missile, which features bi-directional data link communication. The system’s modular design allows for easy customization across various naval platforms, such as frigates and corvettes.

GÖKSUR garnered significant interest at the EURONAVAL 2024 exhibition in Paris, where its innovative functionalities were showcased. The system includes various configurations, such as the GÖKSUR 100-N VLS, the stand-alone turret variant (GÖKSUR 100-N/StA), and a new 20-missile arrangement equipped with the GÖKSUR IIR missile.

Key features of GÖKSUR include a 360-degree threat engagement capability, next-generation infrared seeker-guided munitions, and enhanced effectiveness against low-altitude threats. The system also enables multiple concurrent engagements while integrating an AI-powered fire control mechanism to improve operational performance.
The modular architecture of the system promotes compatibility with a wide range of naval vessels, whether functioning as a standalone unit or as a key component of a ship’s combat management system. Its sophisticated data link technology facilitates real-time uplink and downlink communications, reinforcing Türkiye’s naval defense capabilities.
