France Places Order for Saab’s Cutting-Edge GlobalEye Surveillance Aircraft

Saab has successfully secured a contract with the French General Directorate of Armaments (DGA) to deliver two GlobalEye Airborne Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft, along with essential ground equipment, training, and support. The order is valued at approximately SEK 12.3 billion, with deliveries scheduled between 2029 and 2032.

The contract also includes an option for DGA to acquire two additional aircraft.

“This order highlights the strong partnership between Saab and France. By opting for GlobalEye, France is making a significant investment in a modern and capable Airborne Early Warning & Control solution. This decision fortifies France’s commitment to national sovereignty and enhances Europe’s overall defense capabilities, allowing both Sweden and France to operate the GlobalEye system,” says Micael Johansson, President and CEO of Saab.

GlobalEye represents a cutting-edge multi-domain AEW&C solution equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive sensors. It offers long-range detection and identification of aerial, maritime, and terrestrial objects. By delivering real-time intelligence to air forces, armies, and navies, GlobalEye significantly enhances situational awareness and facilitates the early detection of potential threats.
