Saab Launches Affordable Nimbrix Missile: A Game Changer in Counter-UAS Technology
Saab has introduced its groundbreaking Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) missile, known as Nimbrix. Designed to combat the rising threat posed by small drones on the battlefield, this innovative missile represents a significant advancement in air defense technology.
Developed rapidly by Saab, the Nimbrix missile features a fire-and-forget capability, an active target seeker, and a compact warhead aimed at achieving maximum efficiency at a competitive cost. This system boasts an impressive range of up to 5 kilometers, employing an air-burst mode to effectively neutralize UAS swarms.
“Nimbrix is our strategic response to the escalating unmanned aerial threats witnessed in recent years. Its cost-effectiveness is vital, especially with the growing prevalence of UAS on the battlefield. Drawing from our extensive experience in air defense, we’re committed to responding swiftly to evolving requirements,” remarked Stefan Öberg, head of Saab’s Missile Systems unit.
This missile operates as a versatile ground-based system, capable of functioning independently or integrating into a broader air defense network. With customizable mounting options to cater to diverse customer needs, Nimbrix can be deployed on various vehicles or established in fixed installations. Its economical design allows for increased deployment numbers, ensuring comprehensive air defense coverage.
Ongoing discussions with potential customers are underway, with Saab targeting initial deliveries in 2026. The Nimbrix missile is set to be featured at the DSEI in London, UK, from September 9-12, 2025, at Saab’s exhibition booth, N9-105.
