Saab’s Revolutionary Sea Mine Neutralizer Secures Major Contract with French and British Navies

Saab has secured its initial order from leading contractor Thales, functioning as System Integrator for the comprehensive solution pertaining to the Multi-Shot Mine Neutralisation System (MuMNS). The value of this contract is roughly 300 MSEK, with the delivery of the initial systems slated for 2022.

This order from Thales is integral to the Franco-British Maritime Mine Counter Measures (MMCM) initiative, where Saab will provide cutting-edge mine detection and neutralization systems operated from unmanned surface vessels. These systems will be utilized by the Royal Navy and the French Navy.

“We are excited to unveil our inaugural clients for the MuMNS. It’s a significant achievement to supply capabilities that empower these navies to conduct safer and more efficient Mine Countermeasure operations, allowing the operator to neutralize several underwater mines from a secure distance,” states Görgen Johansson, head of Saab’s business sector Dynamics.

MuMNS introduces an innovative generation of mine detection and neutralization within a robust, modular framework grounded in tested unmanned Saab technology and Mine Countermeasures solutions. This translates to unmatched operational capabilities with enhanced flexibility that significantly elevates operational tempo, while minimizing the costs associated with Mine Countermeasures efforts and reducing risks to personnel.

This order was recorded during Q4 2020.
