“Unveiling Innovations: SAMINavantia Shines at Spain’s Premier Defense Showcase, FEINDEF 2023”
SAMINavantia, a collaboration between SAMI, a fully owned division of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Saudi Arabia’s national leader in defense manufacturing, and Navantia S.A., is actively taking part in the International Defense and Security Exhibition (FEINDEF 2023) held in Madrid.
The three-day event is occurring from May 17 to 19 in the Spanish capital, serving as an excellent platform for SAMINavantia to present HAZEM, the Saudi Combat Management System (CMS). The engagement of SAMINavantia marks a significant milestone demonstrating the company’s expansion and its pivotal role in the industry.
The inauguration ceremony of the exhibition witnessed attendance from a delegation of the Saudi Ministry of Defense, led by the Assistant Minister of Defense for Executive Affairs, Dr. Khaled bin Hussein Al-Bayari.
A number of Senior Executives from SAMI and SAMINavantia were present, including SAMI CEO Eng. Walid A. Abukhaled, SAMI Chief Communication and Support Services Officer Wael M. Al-Sarhan, SAMI Sea Executive Vice President Esteban Villasanchez, and SAMINavantia’s CEO Sofia Honrubia.
During the exhibition, Assistant Minister of Defense Al-Bayari engaged with the engineers of the third cohort of SAMINavantia’s naval industry training program. This initiative focuses on practical training for the HAZEM naval combat management system (CMS). SAMI officials including Abukhaled and Al-Sarhan were also in attendance.
Al-Bayari commended the significance of this innovative program, which aids in the enhancement of local human capital in Saudi Arabia and buttresses the establishment of a comprehensive defense manufacturing framework. Furthermore, he highlighted the role of these local talents in transferring technology and expertise and boosting the sustainability of military industries within the nation.
The meeting was also joined by Undersecretary for Armament and Procurement Ibrahim Al Suwayed along with members of the accompanying delegation.
