ST Engineering Makes Waves in Qatar’s Defence Sector with Groundbreaking MRO Agreement

ST Engineering has made significant strides in the Qatar defence sector by securing a transformative five-year contract through its Land Systems division. This €315 million (approximately S$470 million) agreement with Barzan Maintenance Shield is designed to provide crucial maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) services for the Qatar Emiri Land Forces (QELF). The scope of this contract includes not only the upkeep of military land platforms but also workshop equipment and expert technical support. Moreover, ST Engineering will implement advanced digitalised MRO processes and efficient inventory management practices, with operations slated to kick off in the second quarter of 2026 in Qatar.

“This contract win signifies ST Engineering’s entry into the Qatari defence market. We are honored by Barzan and the Qatar Emiri Land Forces’ trust in us to maintain their land platforms, ensuring they remain operationally ready,” stated Lim Kok Ann, President of Land Systems at ST Engineering.

“We are dedicated to partnering closely with Barzan Maintenance Shield and the Qatar Emiri Land Forces to provide reliable, long-term MRO solutions. Our focus is on synergizing our engineering expertise with digital innovations to enhance the lifecycle management of the operational platforms of the Qatar Emiri Land Forces,” he emphasized.

Beyond general maintenance for the QELF’s fleet, ST Engineering will revolutionize MRO operations by digitizing maintenance workflows, employing anomaly detection, and utilizing fleet analytics. These advancements aim to boost both effectiveness and efficiency. Additionally, the initiative will fortify inventory management by refining procurement processes, optimizing inventory planning, and leveraging data-driven spare parts provisioning.
