ST Engineering Launches Rhino 4×4: Pioneering Hybrid MRAP Innovation at WDS 2026

ST Engineering Launches the Rhino 4×4: A Revolutionary Hybrid MRAP Vehicle

ST Engineering has captivated military specialists at the World Defense Show 2026 with the introduction of its groundbreaking 20-ton Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle, known as the Rhino 4×4.

The Rhino marks a significant advancement in contemporary combat strategies. This vehicle combines cutting-edge hybrid propulsion, stealth operation capabilities, and manned-unmanned teaming (MUM-T) technology, functioning as both a frontline combat unit and a mobile tactical command center.

In an exclusive discussion, ST Engineering representatives emphasized that the Rhino is designed to meet the stringent needs of modern militaries, aiming for high operational efficiency and an ultra-low thermal signature. To address the competitive global defense landscape, ST Engineering is ready to localize production and transfer technology to regional partners, thereby supporting the unique requirements of its clients.

Technical Specifications of the Rhino 4×4

The Rhino 4×4 boasts a remarkable hybrid-electric propulsion system designed to optimize field performance. It features a robust 300 hp diesel engine, manufactured by the esteemed Cummins, which can also accommodate other engine types. This innovative combination produces a staggering 600 hp, effectively doubling power to the wheels. This hybrid design can reduce fuel consumption by up to 30%, extending operational range while minimizing logistical challenges in military operations.

For protection and survivability, the Rhino offers Level 3 ballistic defense. A notable engineering feat is the strategic positioning of the hybrid system’s batteries outside the V-hull crew citadel, ensuring that the crew remains shielded from potential explosion or fire hazards in the event of a direct hit. The vehicle is armed with a versatile 30mm low-pressure main gun compatible with various turret configurations, as well as a 7.62mm coaxial machine gun for close-range combat scenarios.

Advanced Tactical Features of the Rhino 4×4

The Rhino’s capabilities soar beyond conventional kinetic operations, providing a diverse range of tactical solutions for ground formations. One standout feature is the “Silent Drive” mode, which enables the vehicle to operate solely on battery power for up to 25 km at speeds of 50 km/h, all while maintaining a minimal acoustic presence. Furthermore, the “Silent Watch” capability allows the operation of all surveillance systems, including radars and climate control, for up to eight hours without engine activity. This dramatically reduces the vehicle’s thermal signature, effectively masking it from enemy heat detection systems.

Furthermore, the Rhino functions as a mobile micro-grid, allowing connection between three vehicles to power field command centers, thereby eliminating the need for cumbersome portable generators. This advanced vehicle serves as both a defensive shield and a smart offensive platform, featuring state-of-the-art electronic jamming capabilities, supported by air threat detection radars and kinetic interception systems.

The Rhino also excels in manned-unmanned integration, capable of deploying swarms of loitering munitions or reconnaissance drones from its armored configuration. It can launch eight drones using integrated side launchers and vertically from the roof, all managed by the crew through intuitive digital cockpit interfaces. The vehicle can also tow a 3-ton Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), which automatically charges its batteries while being towed. This all-encompassing system employs user-friendly digital interfaces and surround-view cameras, ensuring that soldiers can operate unmanned assets proficiently with minimal training.
