Raytheon, a sector of RTX, has been granted a $74 million agreement to manufacture RAM Guided Missile Launching Systems (GMLS) for the United States Navy.

According to the agreement, Raytheon will supply several new launching systems, refurbish existing systems, and provide hardware necessary for enhancements, along with various spare parts.

“This agreement signifies the most substantial single order of U.S. RAM launchers in over twenty years and will guarantee that our naval capabilities stay well-defended against anti-ship hazards,” stated Barbara Borgonovi, president of Naval Power at Raytheon. “Our ongoing commitment to enhancing production capabilities allows us to fulfill the increasing worldwide demand for the most advanced short-range maritime self-defense missile system.”

Commemorating its 50th anniversary in the upcoming year, the RAM weapon system – which includes the RAM launcher and missiles – is a collaborative venture between the U.S. and Germany, with Raytheon acting as the primary contractor for U.S. Navy needs. The system is presently operational on over 165 vessels across 11 nations, from swift patrol boats to aircraft carriers, and is being integrated into several new U.S. Navy ship classes, including the Arleigh Burke class of guided-missile destroyers.

The majority of the undertakings under this agreement will be conducted in Louisville, Kentucky and is anticipated to conclude by 2028.
