Turkey Unveils Revolutionary SANCAR AUSV and Launches Construction of Europe’s Largest Simulation Hub

Commissioning of the SANCAR Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle and Inauguration of Advanced Facilities in Türkiye

Under the distinguished presence of H.E. Recep Tayyip ERDOĞAN, President of the Republic of Türkiye, a significant ceremony took place at HAVELSAN’s Technology Campus. The event marked the commissioning of the cutting-edge SANCAR Armed Unmanned Surface Vehicle (AUSV), the groundbreaking of the HAVELSAN Simulator Production and Integration Facility, and the inauguration of the HAVELSAN KAAN Technology Center alongside the Naval Combat Management Systems Additional Facility.

Key government officials, including Minister of National Defence Yaşar GÜLER, Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih KACIR, Minister of Youth and Sports Osman Aşkın BAK, and President of Defence Industries Haluk GÖRGÜN, also attended the ceremony.

On-Site Review of National Technologies by President ERDOĞAN

During his visit, President ERDOĞAN toured the Simulator Integration Hangar, receiving insights from HAVELSAN CEO Dr. Mehmet Akif NACAR about the simulators developed for national defense platforms such as GÖKBEY, HÜRJET, and ALTAY, as well as civilian full-flight simulators.

At the HAVELSAN Demonstration Center, the President was briefed on advanced command and control technologies and autonomous unmanned systems integrated into the KOVAN Enterprise Resource Planning platform. He later commemorated his visit by signing the HAVELSAN Memoir and addressing the attendees.

Commemoration of Past Visits

As part of the ceremony, a unique illustrative model was gifted to President ERDOĞAN, showcasing his simulator flight experience during his previous visit to HAVELSAN in 2004. Additionally, Haluk GÖRGÜN presented a model of the newly commissioned SANCAR AUSV.

Advanced Features of the SANCAR AUSV

The SANCAR AUSV, now officially in service, was developed leveraging the revolutionary ADVENT Combat Management System (CMS) architecture. Featuring state-of-the-art autonomy capabilities, it is poised to enhance the operational readiness of the Turkish Naval Forces.

Created through a collaboration between HAVELSAN and YONCA TEKNİK, the SANCAR AUSV is equipped with mission autonomy via the ADVENT CMS, robust platform control systems, mobile ground control stations, and advanced national solutions, including AI-powered image processing and secure communication channels.

With its autonomous functionality, remote command infrastructure, and operational versatility, the SANCAR AUSV is expected to significantly bolster Türkiye’s maritime deterrence capabilities. Its sophisticated sensor suite and integrated weapon systems enable it to undertake a variety of missions, including reconnaissance, surveillance, surface combat, and the protection of vital maritime assets.

The SANCAR AUSV exemplifies HAVELSAN’s leadership in unmanned technologies and aligns with modern network-enabled warfare strategies, further enhancing the efficiency of the Turkish Naval Forces.

Construction of Europe’s Largest Simulator Production Facility

The HAVELSAN Simulator Production and Integration Facility, founded by President ERDOĞAN in the HAB Aerospace and Aviation Specialized Organized Industrial Zone in Kahramankazan, Ankara, will soon be recognized as the largest simulation technology hub in Europe upon its completion.

This facility will enable the annual production and integration of over 30 simulators and is being constructed over a sprawling area of 60,000 square meters, providing employment for approximately 600 individuals. Designed as a high-capacity, multi-functional technology center, it will facilitate the production of up to 16 Full Flight Simulators while supporting the development of air, land, and naval robotic systems.

Launch of the HAVELSAN KAAN Technology Center

The KAAN Technology Center, opened at the Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) campus, will focus on system engineering, software development, testing and validation, cybersecurity, and simulation solutions. This center will form a crucial infrastructure for pioneering research and development in advanced software, artificial intelligence, and integrated defense technologies.

Enhancing Naval Combat Management Systems Production Capacity

The newly inaugurated additional facility for the Naval Combat Management Systems Technology Center in Istanbul will spearhead R&D initiatives in critical fields such as big data analytics, data fusion, image processing, and network modeling. This integrated infrastructure will serve as a platform for designing, verifying, and integrating combat management systems for surface and subsurface naval platforms, particularly advancing the Network-Enabled Data Integrated Naval Combat Management System ADVENT, ultimately enhancing national operational capabilities.
