Forging Bonds: Van Halteren Technologies and Naval Group Collaborate on Crucial Orka-Class Submarine Innovations
Van Halteren Technologies will deliver the primary hydraulic power units (HPUs), along with innovative refrigeration and freezing systems for supplies, in addition to anchor winches and capstans. The company not only designs these solutions but also manufactures them in-house.
The integration of these systems aboard submarines requires designs where weight, compactness, shock resilience, and reliability are crucial. Given the extremely confined space within a submarine, each component must be meticulously customized and capable of withstanding the most demanding environments.
Van Halteren possesses a rich heritage in Dutch naval shipbuilding, encompassing both surface ships and submarines. The organization has previously contributed to the hydraulic systems of the Walrus class and is now actively participating in the advancement of the upcoming generation of submarines.
Team Orka: A lasting and sustainable collaboration between Naval Group and the Dutch industrial sector
Van Halteren is a pivotal member of Team Orka, a growing network of Dutch companies that, under the leadership of Naval Group, are supporting the development of the Orka class. This alliance strengthens the Industrial Cooperation Agreement (ICA) initiated by Naval Group with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and assists in enhancing Dutch maritime knowledge and industry in a sustainable manner.
