ADSB, the foremost regional authority in the construction, repair, upkeep, refurbishment, and conversion of naval and commercial vessels, was today granted a contract valued at AED3.5 billion by the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and UAE Navy to fabricate four Falaj 3-class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs).

This new agreement marks the most substantial order ever awarded to ADSB and strengthens the company’s ambition to emerge as the premier regional shipbuilding facility by providing innovative and reliable solutions that boost value for clients and other stakeholders, both military and civilian.

Khalid Al Breiki, Chairman of ADSB and President – Mission Support at EDGE, stated: “This contract signifies a strong endorsement from the MOD and the UAE Navy towards ADSB. The agreement will establish a foundation for sustainable profit growth for the company while safeguarding vital national assets that are essential to the defence of the UAE.”

David Massey, CEO of ADSB, remarked: “ADSB’s collaboration with key stakeholders has intensified since joining the EDGE Group. This contract highlights our shared commitment to equipping the UAE Navy with appropriate products and cutting-edge maritime solutions—ensuring a secure future. We eagerly anticipate broadening and enhancing our collection of vessels.”

With specialized technical expertise in marine and naval project oversight, ADSB previously constructed the UAE Navy’s Baynunah-class corvettes, the final unit of which was delivered in 2017. The Falaj-3 class is designed as a highly adaptable and multifaceted offshore patrol vessel capable of undertaking a wide array of missions.

Operating one of the most sophisticated shipyards in the Middle East, ADSB manages three primary naval programs: corvettes, offshore patrol vessels, and fast patrol boats. The firm also provides an extensive range of services including maintenance, repair, refurbishment, upgrades, conversion, and engineering consultancy.

ADSB belongs to the Platforms & Systems sector of EDGE, an innovative technology consortium focused on defence and beyond, which is recognized among the top 25 military suppliers globally.
