“Damen Triton Partners with the Royal Navy: A New Era of Maritime Innovation”
Damen Digital Solutions, the digital service arm of Damen Shipyards Group, along with the British Royal Navy’s innovation initiative NavyX, are thrilled to announce a productive partnership. The entities are collaborating on the creation of innovative solutions to improve maritime operations utilizing the Damen Triton data platform.
As part of this arrangement, Damen will equip NavyX with its state-of-the-art Triton remote monitoring system while conducting relevant data collection. Damen provided a digital twin model of the Damen Fast Crew Supplier (FCS) 4008 XV Patrick Blackett, which was delivered to NavyX in July 2022. This advancement will allow the NavyX team to investigate future technologies in a secure environment before carrying out onboard testing.

By merging Damen’s proficiency in digitalization and data analytics with NavyX’s insights into naval vessels, operations, and exploration, this collaboration will open pathways to innovative solutions. This facet of the partnership will enable NavyX to showcase the benefits of precise and up-to-date engineering data over predicted models, ultimately transforming Engineering Support across the Ministry of Defence to enhance overall efficiency and effectiveness.
“We are thrilled to collaborate with NavyX in the pursuit of progressive solutions that will improve operational capabilities,” stated Toine Cleophas, Managing Director of Damen Digital Solutions. “With our combined expertise, we aim to develop cutting-edge solutions designed for the specific requirements of NavyX. The NavyX team will also receive extensive warranty and technical assistance from the Damen UK Service Hub.”
Col Tom Ryall, Head of NavyX, remarked, “It is exhilarating to partner with Damen Digital Solutions on this initiative, exploring fresh methods to bolster our, along with future, capabilities. Through collaboration, we can leverage the most advanced technologies to closely monitor XV Patrick Blackett’s performance and maintenance status and shape concepts for the future Royal Navy fleet.”
The collaboration commenced at the close of 2022. The forthcoming phase will involve Damen’s provision of the Triton remote monitoring platform and the digital twin model of XV Patrick Blackett. Both organizations are eager to pursue new avenues for innovation and advancement.
