EDGE Partners with Israel Aerospace Industries to Innovate Cutting-Edge Counter-UAS Technology

Faisal Al Bannai, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of EDGE.

EDGE, the UAE’s premier technology consortium for defense and beyond, has today formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) – Israel’s leading aerospace and aviation producer, to cultivate an innovative C-UAS (Counter-Unmanned Aerial System) designed specifically for the UAE market, with far-reaching advantages for the MENA region and beyond.

By capitalizing on IAI’s established C-UAS solutions that are utilized globally to identify, classify, and neutralize a diverse array of threats, EDGE, an innovative and disruptive entity recently recognized for launching a suite of aerospace solutions, is engaging its subsidiary, SIGN4L, a top-notch provider of electronic warfare services focused on national security, to collaborate with the Israeli defense manufacturer.

The system features cutting-edge 3D radar, COMINT (communications intelligence), and Electro-Optic technologies harmonized into a cohesive command and control framework, the C-UAS operates autonomously requiring no human involvement. An assortment of countermeasures, spanning soft-kill strategies such as spoofing and jamming, to hard-kill capabilities like lasers and electromagnetic pulses, is provided based on the threat level and targeted operational conditions.

Both SIGN4L and IAI will harness their technical expertise to tailor the system in accordance with specific client requirements. Additional support will be accessible via IAI’s collaboration with Belgium Advanced Technology Systems, which maintains a technical and marketing footprint in the region.

His Excellency Faisal Al Bannai, CEO and Managing Director, EDGE, remarked: “In alignment with the Abraham Accords and the UAE’s newly-formed partnership with Israel, this is a pivotal moment for us to collaborate with IAI. As EDGE invests significantly in autonomous technologies, the joint development of a Counter-UAS will aid in enhancing our advanced technology portfolio.”

Boaz Levy, President and CEO of IAI, stated: “IAI is honored to partner with EDGE, to offer the UAE and the surrounding region a distinctive and superior solution in a field where IAI excels. This MoU is a foundational milestone for further business and strategic partnerships between our nations, fostering cooperation in R&D and technological innovation.”

EDGE is a cutting-edge technology consortium for defense that stands among the top 25 military suppliers globally.
