“Sky-High Innovation: Hanwha Systems and Milkor Aerospace Join Forces to Revolutionize UAV Technology with Cutting-Edge AESA SAR Radar”

Paris, France – 16 June 2025 — Hanwha Systems, a distinguished South Korean defense technology firm, along with Milkor Aerospace and Defence, a premier manufacturer of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), have forged a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to merge Hanwha’s state-of-the-art Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology into the Milkor 380, an elite Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance (MALE) UAV platform.

Formalized during the 2025 Paris Air Show, this partnership aims to produce a thoroughly integrated, export-ready surveillance and reconnaissance solution for both regional and international markets. The MoU was finalized by Julian Coetzee, CEO of Milkor UAE, and Hyuck Park, Senior Vice President of Hanwha Systems’ Defense Electronics Division.

“This alliance unifies two exceptionally skilled organizations that complement each other’s capabilities,” expressed Julian Coetzee, CEO of Milkor UAE. “We are enthusiastic about continuing our collaborative efforts with Hanwha. By combining our resources and expertise, we envision unlocking extraordinary possibilities, not just in the Middle East but throughout global markets.”

Hyuck Park, Senior Vice President of Hanwha, remarked, “This cooperation allows us to integrate Hanwha’s cutting-edge technology with Milkor’s innovative platforms to offer next-generation defense solutions to international clients.”

The Milkor 380 is an adaptable UAV designed for Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) as well as precision strike missions. It boasts over 30 hours of operational endurance, a payload capacity exceeding 220 kg, and a range of over 4,000 km. The platform includes multiple hardpoints, SATCOM capabilities, and a modular open systems architecture, enhancing its versatility for a variety of mission profiles.

Hanwha Systems brings extensive expertise in AESA radar technology, having developed top-tier airborne radar solutions. The integration of its SAR payload will equip the Milkor 380 with high-definition imagery, Ground and Maritime Moving Target Indication (GMTI/MMTI), and all-weather reconnaissance abilities, significantly enhancing its effectiveness in intelligence collection and situational awareness.
